Print, Framed, or a Whole Wall

Choosing your first piece

By The Studio · 2 min read

You don’t need to spend a fortune to start, and you don’t need to be a collector. Here’s the range, from a few pounds to a whole wall, and how to choose.

Start small: postcards and the book

The easiest way in is a postcard set — eight cards on a theme (Geometry, Reflections, Colour or Industrial) for £6.99. They’re printed on the same archival stock as the prints, so they frame up nicely in a simple clip frame if one catches you.

The other entry point is the book, Bristol Reimagined — a square hardback gathering the whole series, with chapters running from Geometry to Hidden Bristol. At £24.99 it’s the best overview of the collection, and an easy gift.

The heart of it: prints

The prints are where the collection really lives. They’re matt only, in four sizes:

  • A4 — £35. A single piece for a shelf or a narrow wall.
  • A3 — £49. The everyday favourite; big enough to anchor a desk or hallway.
  • A2 — £99. A proper statement above a sofa or bed.
  • A1 — £149. Full gallery scale.

Every print is a signed, numbered limited edition. Because editions are capped, the piece on your wall won’t be on every other wall in the street.

Ready to hang: framed

If you’d rather not deal with framing, the larger sizes come gallery-framed — A2 at £149, A1 at £299 — supplied ready to hang.

A whole wall: installations

For hotels, offices, practices and developments, we put together larger schemes — a coherent series across rooms or floors, from a single statement piece up to a whole-floor commission. Those run from a few hundred pounds into the thousands; the contact page is the place to start that conversation.

Choosing for the room

A rule of thumb: go one size larger than feels safe — most pieces are hung too small. Above a sofa or bed, think A2 or A1; in a hallway or alcove, an A3 holds its own. And because the work is matt, it sits happily in daylight without fighting the glare a glossy print would.

Buy the size the wall needs, not the size that feels cautious.
