These terms govern your purchase of products from Urban Abstractions, a trading name of Bristol Internet Ltd (“we”, “us”). By placing an order you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Our products
We sell limited-edition fine-art prints, books and postcard sets, together with framing and commissioned installations. Our prints and books are made to order — produced specifically for you once you order. Because screens vary, the colours you see on your device may differ slightly from the finished item; each piece is an original artistic interpretation rather than a literal photograph.
2. Orders and contract
Your order is an offer to buy. A binding contract is formed only when we send you an order confirmation. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item is unavailable or a price is clearly wrong — and will refund any payment already taken.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is free to the UK mainland; for deliveries elsewhere, please place your order to arrange (see below) and we’ll confirm delivery and any charges with you. You can pay in one of two ways:
- Pay by card. Card payments are taken at the time of order through Stripe, our payment provider, on Stripe’s secure checkout. Your order is confirmed once payment succeeds.
- Place an order to arrange. You may place an order without paying online. We’ll then contact you to confirm it and to arrange payment — including direct payment or another method — and to sort delivery where it falls outside the UK mainland. No contract is formed until we confirm your order and, where applicable, payment is agreed.
4. Delivery
We deliver to the UK mainland as standard, free of charge. As items are made to order, please allow the dispatch time shown at checkout (typically 5–7 working days) plus delivery transit. For delivery outside the UK mainland, place your order to arrange and we’ll confirm timescales and any charges before you pay. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery; ownership passes once we have received payment in full.
5. Cancellations and returns
Made-to-order and personalised items. Our prints, framed pieces, books and commissions are made to your order and/or to your specification. For this reason the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not apply to these goods (regulation 28 exempts goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalised). Once production has begun, these orders cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded simply because you change your mind.
Standard stocked items. Where an item is sold from stock rather than made to order (for example, postcard sets dispatched as-is), the usual 14-day cancellation right applies: you may notify us within 14 days of receipt and return the item unused in its original condition, and we will refund the price paid.
None of the above affects your legal rights in respect of faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods.
6. Faulty or damaged items
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If your item arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, contact us at [email protected] within 14 days of delivery with a photograph and we will arrange a replacement or a full refund, including any return postage. This applies to made-to-order items too — the exemption above relates only to change-of-mind cancellation, not to your rights over defective goods.
7. Intellectual property
All artwork, images and designs remain the intellectual property of Urban Abstractions and are protected by copyright. Buying a print or book gives you ownership of that physical item only; it does not transfer any copyright or grant any right to reproduce, copy, resell commercially or create derivative works from the artwork without our written permission.
8. Our liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability arising from an order is limited to the price paid for the goods, and we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable at the time the contract was formed.
9. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as supplier or courier disruption. If such an event occurs we will contact you and, where appropriate, offer a refund.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
